WARDENS

Wardens act as the Trust's eyes and ears, regularly walking the reserve and letting us know of any problems that need our attention. No specialist knowledge is needed, just an appreciation of the reserve as a special place. As a warden you will have regular contact with our conservation staff, receive a copy of the wardens handbook and also our volunteers' newsletter, Grapevine. You will also be invited to the Trust's annual Wardens Day.

The role of warden is a flexible and varied one, including the collection of records of wildlife such as butterflies, plants and other species; talking to people visiting the reserve; getting involved in practical work; collecting litter.

Wardens also have a named staff contact, opportunities for training as and when it occurs and local wardens groups where they can meet other wardens, discuss management of the site and air problems.
