SHROPSHIRE

SHAPING OF SHROPSHIRE

Shropshire is unique in having an almost complete history stretching back from almost 700 million years ago until the present day. For this reason it is steeped in the romance of early scientific discovery, with many local places being of enormous historical importance in shaping the way that people have come to think about the way the earth was made.

Each area in the Shropshire Rocks website has a story to tell. Locked in the rocks are fantastic tales of volcanoes, tropical seas desert dunes and sandy beaches – a far cry from the lush green patchwork of fields and forests we see today.
