Save wild Telford

Help us raise £10,000 to proteTelford meadowct Telford’s wild places

Telford’s green spaces are under threat. By 2025 the town will have another 26,500 houses. We need your help to ensure those houses go in the right place with the minimum possible damage to wildlife and that all Telford’s residents can continue to enjoy nature on their doorstep.

Telford is one of very few towns to have been conceived and built with a connecting network of green spaces. New development inevitably puts pressure on this land, so we need to work closely with planners to protect the most important places for wildlife and the green corridors that connect them.

We don’t dispute that people need homes, but our job is to speak up for wildlife.

  • Good data means good decisions. We will identify and map wildlife with the help of trained volunteers.
  • Inform and challenge. We will feed into development plans at an early stage, but challenge decisions that threaten to damage or destroy wildlife habitat.
  • Local Nature Reserves. Designated land has better protection.
  • Working together. Supporting and nurturing local environmental groups is key to actively conserving the places that people treasure. Banded demoiselle

Download the publication The Nature of Telford that highlights projects we have been involved with over the past four years. We have developed the Wrekin Forest Volunteers, run major schools projects, worked with local businesses, helped disaffected young people find inspiration in the natural world and looked after numerous wildlife habitats. Please support the appeal to ensure that this vital work continues.

Telford’s green network makes the town a great place to live, work and see wildlife. A donation from you will help to keep it that way.
