BUSHMOOR COPPICE This is a wood worth seeking out, especially in spring when golden saxifrage, bluebells and yellow archangel light up the woodland floor. Follow the path marked with mossy logs that twists along in a wonky figure of eight, crossing two rippling streams. This wood is bird heaven with dozens of nest-boxes fixed to the trees for pied flycatchers, robins, blue tits and great tits. Lots of dense scrub and piles of brashwood where warblers and wrens can nest in safety. Hawthorn nibbled with a perfectly smooth hole and |
oblique oval rim were found here recently, providing welcome evidence of dormouse presence. |
