NATURE RESERVES Woods, flower-rich meadows, hills, wild heathland and wetlands ringing with birds, Shropshire Wildlife Trust's 37 nature reserves are found throughout the county and together total 1,191 acres. All this land is looked after to benefit a diversity of wildlife species. Reserves staff and volunteers spend several days a week carrying out tasks ranging from hedge laying to pond clearance and footpath construction. Regular species monitoring is carried out to make sure we're getting the management right. Most of the nature reserves are freely accessible; restrictions apply to a few. See individual entries for details. |
