Shropshire Wildlife Trust is playing its part in the Telford Access to Nature Partnership by arranging a series of family environmental arts events. The aim has been to use the environment creatively, showing how it can be enjoyed in a variety of ways.
Sessions so far have included woodland adventure treasure trails; a mini ecolympics (an environmental alternative to sports day); twig boat-making followed by a boat race across a duck pond ; bow and arrow making in the style of Robin Hood; leaf wars: giving children and adults the opportunity to dive and play in fallen autumn leaves and a special hallowe'en event, attended by many witches and hobgoblins.
We want to inspire and motivate families to see the endless possibilities for enjoying nature. Each event is unique, but is structured in such a way as to allow a family to recreate it in back gardens or local green spaces.
The project has been very positively received by many people from all areas of Telford. Look out for forthcoming events on the What's on pages and come along and join in.
The Telford Access to Nature Partnership is part of the Big Lottery Fund's £25 million Changing Spaces programme. Natural England is delivering as the lead organisation and Severn Gorge Countryside Trust is the lead partner on the programme within the Telford region.
