Discover the hidden wildlife of our rivers
About the event
In this talk, Chris will present the latest stock assessment findings for the Severn catchment and outline that urgent action is required locally as the climate emergency intensifies. He will highlight how coordinated effort is essential if we are to stabilise and recover salmon populations to sustainable levels.
Wild Atlantic salmon are now reaching crisis point, with the latest national stock assessments reporting populations at their lowest levels on record. The River Severn and its Shropshire tributaries reflect this national picture: confirmed trends show continued decline, and the Severn is currently classed as “At Risk.”
Discover why Atlantic salmon are vital to the health of our rivers, what their decline reveals about the wider environment, and how we can all play a part in securing a future for this iconic species in the Severn Catchment. Come along to rethink how we see fish—not as something hidden beneath the surface, but as wildlife worth celebrating, protecting and restoring.
