About the event

A pair of beavers was introduced to Shropshire almost a year ago. Their arrival at the Old River Bed in Shrewsbury caused great excitement as it was the first time in 400 years that these densely furred mammals had appeared in the county.

Alicia will talk about the extraordinary value of these creatures as ecosystem engineers and describe how the wetlands they create provide perfect conditions for a host of wildlife and also benefit people by slowing the flow of storm-water in times of flood.

Home-made cakes, tea and coffee will be served after the talk.
